Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is the extension in time of the Savasana pose usually used at the end of a series of asana. In Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep), the idea is to consciously surf the interface between awareness and sleep – without actually falling asleep.

This hyper-alert state allows the body to fully relax.

During Yoga Nidra, the practitioner is guided by voice through gradually deeper layers of consciousness that often allow for deep seated trauma to be gently released.

After an hour long session of Yoga Nidra we tend to feel more embodied, in tune with ourselves and more open in our hearts.

If you would like to experience Yoga Nidra for yourself, please go to insighttimer.com and search for session suited to your needs. I have various examples on my teacher page “Nico Mulholland.”

On a deeper level, feel free to contact me directly to set up a tailor made session for yourself. This will involve one counseling session to determine your needs.. followed by the creation of a personalised Yoga Nidra audio that can be downloaded and used whenever needed.

Charges for the two sessions are equivalent to two 50 minute counseling sessions, payable via PayPal.

Stress is a cognitive or emotional response made by individuals towards any situation, which demands adjustment…. As yoga nidra relaxes the physical as well as mental stresses, it relaxes the whole nervous system. (Kumar. 2008)

Studies have found that the Yoga Nidra practice (or โ€œstateโ€) appears to reflect an integrated response by the hypothalamus, resulting in decreased sympathetic (excitation) nervous activity and increased parasympathetic (relaxation) function.[30] Results show that there was a significant improvement in positive well-being, general health, and vitality in the Yoga Nidra group. (Ferreira-Vorkapic et al.2018)
